Florida is a very nice place to be

So we’re actually doing it! I spent about a week in Orlando going to the Jazz Educator Network conference and meeting so many great and inspiring folks as well as reconnecting with friends. I spent the entire week filming collaborations with many of them. First, I started a series with my former jazz professor who I just happened to run into one night and he was very down to work together. It will be a super fun series, but will take about a year to film which is a crazy undertaking, but I guess that’s the point!

Next, I filmed a very silly collaboration with Jordan and Isaac from FreeDaps.

The other collaborations *to be edited* were a fun one with Harry Watters out on his dock, an interview with a professional soccer player, sitting in with an amazing party funk band and recording on their next album as well as an interview with their trombonist, and finally a trumpet lesson!

This week I’ll be heading up to Columbus State University to give a talk to their students and then the rest of the week I have blocked off to edit all of this amazing footage I’ve captured the last two weeks.

Right now I’m in between Miami and Orlando on my way up for one last Florida collaboration, but on my way out of Key West I managed to film a little bit on the beach and grab an iconic picture of a gorgeous Miami night.

Until next time!

Florida Bound

Well, I had a nice holiday with my folks in upstate New York, and now I've left for nicer weather. I packed the car with everything I thought I could need and stopped a couple times on the way to visit some family and friends. I've just crossed the state line from Georgia into Florida which will be my home for the next couple of weeks.

My first stop will be the Jazz Educator Network Conference in Orlando, Florida where I'll visit some good friends and amazing educators. I also have quite a few musician friends who live in the area, and I'm excited to begin collaborating with as many of them as I can while I'm here!

As for now, I'm definitely getting back into the groove and figuring out exactly how to live and work on the road. I know I've probably been saying that a lot lately, but cut me some slack. I was living in a house for 30 years, this is a little new for me!

Officially on the Road

Here we are!!!! I ended up back in my hometown a lot sooner than expected, but after a week of Thanksgiving festivities, decorating for Christmas, and helping my family with some things, I'm officially on the road and heading south!

Today I'm in Maryland, visiting with some friends and family and working on some vlogs and new music. Friday I'll be down in Winchester, Virginia for a super fun Christmas gig. Then onward south until it's time for the Midwest clinic in Chicago and back to my hometown for Christmas.

I'm starting to understand what my life will look like these weeks. It's cold, but I'm trying to get away from that as soon as possible!!

Updates to come! I'm thinking I'll have much more time for all of that these days.

First Nights

I officially spent my first few nights in my new mobile home! I drove down to NYC for a recording session with some musician/creator friends of mine in the morning, and then to go to one of their shows that evening. The next day I headed to Philadelphia to visit with a friend from college and eat some delicious food.

I managed to test just about everything out- the internet, the workspace, the recording workspace, the sleeping arrangement, as well as having a passenger a couple times. So far the only thing I haven't done is cook on my stove. Perhaps today!

I'll be editing my next vlog about all of this as soon as I find a place to anchor down. Until then!
